“Rabbit” by Run Wrake

This is a beautiful, haunting, interesting animated short made by Run Wrake, animator and illustrator, in 2005. The animation is superb, and the sound effects and music are excellent, too.

I think my color choices were affected by watching The Lion King the other day. Such a good movie! Although I never realized that a pride of lions is a bunch of lionesses and one lion, aka a [...]

Cheer up, buttercup.

I work retail. It’s true. It’s one of my two summer jobs. I enjoy it, mostly—my coworkers have The Gift of Sarcasm—and my shifts aren’t too long. But yesterday, it just seemed like everyone, from the customers to my fellow “associates,” was a bad mood. Unsmiling, shoving clothes into my face, making loud sighs and [...]

T-shirt slides: what splendor!

Dude. Why are these —

I still remember buying mine from a hospital gift shop when I was 4 or 5. [...]

Vernacular Typography

Via TypeNeu. Check out these awesome “vernacular typography” Polaroids taken by Douglas Wilson. You can see them all at his Flickr. I love Polaroids. Who doesn’t, really. I needed some good beach reading, which means reading for my ten minute breaks at work. It was pretty fun! A fast read, and not totally unbelievable, except maybe for the [...]

Watermelon whorls

Sometimes, nature surprises you with its artistry.

Or is this just genetic manipulation?

Does it matter?

Silhouettes

I guess I feel like I have to make up for all the non-blogging I did last month to my one dedicated reader (me). Here are the promised examples of silhouettes, which have been around forever. I’ve been seeing more of them lately and I like them a lot!

The above is Emily Brontë’s silhouette by [...]

The Vineyard tea towel

When I was 6, I went to school in England for the year. The was the Year O’ Traveling for me, and I haven’t been out of the country since. Anyway. At the end of the school year, we all drew self-portraits on scraps of paper, and this company scanned them in and arranged it [...]
