How to run an edit-a-thon for your library’s staff
In my hybrid workplace, we’re trying to make our on-site, everybody’s-in-the-same-room-for-once moments more effective. My secret agenda: if you can, turn it into a party.
Bring snacks (warm biscuits with apple compote are a hit here); play work music (I recommend the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack); and trade tips, tricks, and questions in a casual environment.
I wrote up a certain kind of party-in-disguise I’ve been organizing lately: the edit-a-thon.
If your library’s staff is facing a huge amount of drudge work, like updating a hundred documents manually, you can make the task approachable by coordinating an edit-a-thon, an event in which staff members gather in a room for a couple of hours to tackle editing together.
